Rudston is a lovely school with super, enthusiastic teachers, polite and well motivated pupils and supportive parents. Our aim is for all pupils to achieve their full academic potential in a friendly and caring atmosphere. We are very proud of our pupils' achievements in all areas of the curriculum with music and drama being particular strengths. Pupils are prepared for entrance tests to senior schools with the majority of them successfully gaining a place at their first choice school and several achieving scholarships each year.

I spent 16 happy years at Rudston at the beginning of my teaching career and I am delighted to have returned as Principal of this friendly and caring school.

In the years away from Rudston I was Head of three other independent preparatory schools, initially at Friends' School in Saffron Walden, Essex, then at Chapter House Preparatory School in York and finally at Coram House, the junior school of Ackworth, near Pontefract.

All three schools were very different in their own way. However, it is now good to be back in Rotherham where I was born and where my family still lives.

A few years ago I trained as an inspector for the Independent Schools Inspectorate and I have undertaken inspections at schools abroad as well as in this country.

I have one son, Daniel, who was a pupil at Rudston and is now a professional singer, dancer and actor, currently on tour with 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang'. In my spare time I enjoy reading, visiting the theatre and dining out with friends.
