The crossing was great fun!

After a hearty meal we started our
France Trip diaries then went tired,
but happy, to bed.

C'est si bon!

This year's school trip to France proved to be great fun as well as providing us with many opportunities to try out our French language skills and learn more about French culture.

These photographs try to give you a flavour of what we got up to and we hope you enjoy them!
(They may take a little while to load up but it's worth
the wait!)

We arrived at tea-time then went for a walk to
explore the local town, ending up on the beach.

We wasted no time in setting up a game of
beach cricket!

Mr Lowis gave his usual brilliant team talk.

We discovered there was an amazing sand sculpture
display being created. Here is a huge Egyptian statue.

This inspired some of us to create our own
sand sculptures. We got to work
straight away.

The next day was busy with lots of opportunities to speak some French. The visit to the bakery was very interesting as the traditional way of baking was still in use. Monsieur showed us how it was done and his commentary was all in French.

On the left you can see the dough being mixed. The ovens can
be seen on the right. It was so hot the baker has to use a long 'shovel' to move the bread about. The smell was wonderful! Freshly-baked bread!

Then came a big treat - still-warm and freshly-baked bread and croissants
to taste! As you can see (below, left) - it was
delicious!

Our next visit was to learn all about how chocolate was made. The pictures here show the inside of the chocolate factory (below) and a huge church chocolate mould.

Below you can see Monsieur decorating chocolates
as they pass on the conveyer belt. Next you can see us being shown the chocolate rabbit figure as it came out
of the mould. The last picture on the right is taken in the shop afterwards where we bought our goodies and gifts for home.

After this we went on to the goat farm. The visit was real fun as well as teaching us a lot about animal husbandry. Madame told us all about keeping goats and let us have a go at milking them! She demonstrated how to make cheese and we found it very interesting.

That evening we entered our experiences into
our diaries and played some games.
After a refreshing night's sleep we went down to the restaurant for breakfast and we were able to try out our French again.

It was now time to pack our things on the coach and head off for the coast. Before we boarded the ferry home, though, we
had a wonderful visit to the Sea Centre. Here you can see some of the things we enjoyed.
